As some of you already know, on the 4th August 2012 we will be hosting the Berlin Slowlympics.
Timed to coincide with the London Olympics (27 July-12 Aug), the games will form a side event to Die Spiele In Berlin’s main Olympic screenings (which will run for the entire duration of the games) at the marvellous Tempelhofer Park.
While the Slowlympics will pay homage to the ancient games, they will also make a tongue-in-cheek statement about our culture’s obsession with speed.
Eschewing the usual tests of competition and stamina, our games will pull together a range of amusing sports – many with a special local twist – to create a fun and participatory day for dedicated non-athletes of all kinds.
The day will begin at 12 noon and run for as long as we keep having fun. There will be games for kids as well as adults, and prizes for both. (See below for more info on games and prizes).
