Images of Berlin, 2012

Paul Sullivan selects some of his favourite images of Berlin taken in 2012…

I’ve never photographed as much as I did in 2012. My camera was barely out of my hands for most of the year, even though I probably travelled less (internationally speaking) than any year in the previous decade.

I cycled and walked day and night through the centre and fringes of the city, exploring everything from lakes and woodlands to abandoned buildings and residential estates. I never knew quite was I was looking for, but I followed the light and my intuition and never came back empty handed.

This is a selection from the many thousands of images I snapped this year (click the Full Screen button on the slideshow for the best results), and forms just part of a larger mission to represent Berlin visually. A second major project will be launched in the new year.

The images featured on the slideshow are available to buy individually on my website at very affordable prices, and I will also be making some (last-minute) calendars from some of these images. I haven’t worked out a price for those yet, but it will also be very reasonable.

If you’d like to place an order, please drop me a mail ASAP on paul@slowtravelberlin.com. I’m hoping to have them ready by the start of January, 2013…

Thanks Paul for those beautiful images. We were in Berlin in 2012. You show the beauty and the variety of Berlin that is not often appreciated by the Berliners themselves. One has to be an outsider to recognise that Berlin is a different planet altogether.

Thanks for the kind words Peter…

I’m a Berlin expat, living in the US. Thanks for those photos (I think, because they made me so homesick). You really captured the stuff that tugs on my heart; the beauty, the decay, the serene, the weird and wonderful.
