An Introduction To Berlin

This tour provides visitors with an overview of the city’s fascinating and often turbulent history, from its role as the epicentre of Prussia and its Hohenzollern rulers, through to World War One and the end of the German monarchy, the colourful highs and depressing lows of the Weimar Republic, World War Two and its aftermath (the Cold War), right up to contemporary Berlin. Starting at the world-renowned Brandenburger Tor, we will discuss Royal Berlin, the beginnings of democracy and the Reichstag, and visit significant twentieth-century sites such as the Holocaust Memorial, Hitler’s Bunker, the Topography of Terror and Checkpoint Charlie. This is a great tour to orientate yourself in the city and learn about its past in broad brushtrokes while using the deliberately smaller group size to ask questions, interact and add nuance on any local topic of your choosing—specific requests for tips on neighbourhoods, dining, clubbing and the art and culture scene are all welcome.
